Meet The Neighbours - Dave and Jake: Two Plastic Geordies
Adopted Northerners Dave Hemming and Jake Rusby have launched a brand new podcast which celebrates the richness of life in the North East.
‘Two Plastic Geordies', recorded in the North Tyneside Business Centre, features in-depth interviews with individuals from all walks of life, each with a unique, captivating story to tell. The first episode features an interview with Olya, a Ukrainian refugee.
The duo want to champion the people from the incredible region that they are both now lucky enough to call home.
Jake said: “Both being former journalists, we are passionate about people; and people are what make North Shields what it is. We are southerners who are now adopted Northerners – aka ‘Plastic Geordies’ – and for us, Geordies are like nobody else.
“The friendliness of the area, and the sense of togetherness and community, are a joy to behold every single day and we are loving celebrating the richness of life in the area with our new podcast.”
Dave added: “I’m proud to call the North East home. Both my children were born here, my wife is a Geordie, and it’s where my roots are now, so I definitely consider myself a plastic Geordie… even though I’m rubbish at the accent!
“Like Jake, I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, and being able to share them with others, so this new podcast is the perfect platform for us. Watch this space as we have lots more exciting stuff in the pipeline.”
