Meet The Neighbours - Simmie Harper

Hi North Shields! My name is Simone, but most people call me Simmie. I’m the founder of I Love North Shields, a community-driven monthly magazine made by the people for the people of North Shields and beyond.

The magazine is a collective effort, with over 30 volunteers helping to make this possible! After living in the Netherlands, France, and traveling through Spain in a camper, my husband Peter, our dog Ruby, and I decided to settle in North Shields to spend time with family. Through I Love North Shields, I’m on a mission to connect people within the community by creating a platform for local talents, featuring all things that make North Shields special.

When we moved to North Shields, I quickly realized how much untapped potential this town has to offer. It’s all about the people—the ones who live here, work here, and make this town what it is. I truly believe that to feel connected to your town, you have to know the people who make it what it is. This magazine isn't about me; it's about all of us, the people of North Shields. It's about sharing stories that fill us with pride and positivity That’s what I’m trying to do with I Love North Shields. So, why do I love North Shields?
