Steve Mayes Brick This - LEGO Architect

Steve runs LEGO design company Brick This, based in North Tyneside Business Centre.

Steve specialises in creating custom LEGO models primarily of architecture, vehicles, and other objects. Steve’s exhibition models have included The Alnwick Garden and The Bowes Museum and aim to have a real wow-factor for visitors.

Steve also designs custom kits, where the recipient gets to build the model, often for companies looking to give away a corporate gift. Recent projects have seen Steve designing kits for an architectural practice in Brooklyn and the Luxembourg Space Agency.

An ex-architectural photographer, Steve rekindled his childhood love of LEGO in 2012 when he started modelling iconic landmarks of the region. Much to his own surprise, it soon became apparent there was a market for this work, and before long Steve made the transition to full-time LEGO artist.

Steve says: “I love what I do and I love living and working in North Shields, so close to the river and the Fish Quay. There’s a great sense of community here and I’ve already got some strong connections with other creative people who are based in the town.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how the Cultural Quarter develops and what kinds of opportunities and collaborations it will bring. I’m hoping it can create an economic boost for North Shields, which is a special place.”
